Rare's Sea of Thieves appears to be the penultimate pirate game. Crews of players take a fully customizable ship out onto the seas for plunder, treasure, and grog. The game acts as a virtual way for players to act everything they think about when they think "pirates." And, it does this while putting these characters together. Considered a Shared World Adventure Game (SWAG), interaction with others is guaranteed. Crews form in order to sail the ships, and ships are destined to find each other. When the cannons start firing, crew members will scramble to keep the ship afloat. Since Sea of Thieves has no definite class system, any character can fill whatever role is needed in order to keep the ship running smoothly.
I can't shake the craving for rum now.
If ship combat isn't your thing, no problem! Sea of Thieves aims to cater to everyone's swashbuckling needs. Players can hunt for treasure, explore the seas, and even find adventure through quests. If you get lost on the seas, there's even a North Star to help you find your way. Hell, if you want, you can even just get drunk all day long. And after that, you can have your character drink in the game. No matter what you've got your one remaining eye on, Sea of Thieves will cater to it. There is no word yet on a release date, but it will come out for Xbox One and Windows 10.
