But I’ll let Scott himself explain what happened in a recently-penned apology, posted over Steam.
“You know, I’ve been accused of rushing my games ever since FNaF 1, but I’ve never felt that I’d released a game too early… until now.
There are a lot of features that this game should have had before release, features that I was told about, but ignored and didn’t implement. Features such as being able to see what abilities do during battle, or being able to see a stats page for your characters. These are features that any good RPG would have.
I got too eager to show the things that were finished, that I neglected to pay attention to the things that weren’t.
I’m going to fix this, and I’ll be updated the game with these features in the coming weeks. “
See, the funny thing about Five Nights at Freddy’s World is that it’s a bit of an odd duck. Of over a thousand Steam reviews, most of them are positive, but if you actually look at the reviews, all the most highly rated ones are negative, people accusing it of being bare-bones, uninspired, practically a betrayal by Mr. Scott Cawthon against his fans. He’s being receptive to the negative feedback, but… not so much about what people are complaining about. Just missing features that also miss the point of what most people were angry about in the first place. But then, a lot of people just hate this game on principle, and so we can’t take them on their word anyway.
And through it all, it’s very hard to find anything that discusses, well… exactly what it is that Five Nights at Freddy’s World actually IS.
If these updates will help turn things around for Five Nights at Freddy’s World is doubtful, but, there can be little doubt that this is going to be a pretty pivotal moment for the Five Nights franchise. What becomes of it, well… we’ll have to wait to see.
