Confirmed enablers of sexual abuse and toxic harassment Ubisoft have doing everything in their power to bring Splinter Cell back into the limelight short of actually announcing a new Splinter Cell game. They’ve announced a new animated series, they’ve got a new mobile game where he takes a starring role, and now they’ve done something they probably should have done ages ago – they’ve officially announced Sam Fisher himself will be joining the cast of Rainbow Six Siege.
Sam Fisher is an attacker, appropriately enough, who carries a special gadget that fires cameras through “soft” walls, so he can spy on whatever is on the other side, or maybe deal a little damage to an enemy operative in a punch. While that has tremendous value for attacking targets, seeing a camera burst through a soft wall is also probably a quick way to get a spray of bullets fired in your direction, so you’d probably be smart about how you use it.
So that’s a pretty exciting time for Rainbow Six Siege players, who were no doubt looking for some good news after it was revealed their developers were abusive manipulative misogamists, but it’s still no substitute for a real, brand-new Splinter Cell game. Hopefully all this hype is leading up to an announcement like that.
