So at least that.

The strike between video game companies and SAG-AFTRA members continues to rage on. However, the voice actors have won a little side battle. The video game companies have decided to give up the domain featuring their infamous attack site against the union. We've mentioned before that the jilted game companies made a spiteful website using the SAG-AFTRA name. The site mostly included biased content about how the companies are being fair and reasonable while the voice actors were being selfish and unrealistic. It was released on October 28. Immediately after that site saw the light of day, SAG-AFTRA issued a demand that the companies stop falsely using the union's trademark. Only now has the domain been taken down.

Here's a breakdown of what happened in video form.

It's important to remember what the strike is all about. For over a year, voice actors for video games have been asking for fair contracts. This includes things like having sufficient protection against vocal damage. Keep in mind that many of these actors are tasked with screaming and shouting for hours at a time, and any time they have to take to heal is time they can't be working. Among other things, it also includes giving these actors a share of the profits if a game does specifically well. Actors in films often get those kinds of benefits, so the VAs of AAA games feel it's only fair that they get the same treatment.

Regardless of where you stand on the issue, I'm sure we all hope this strike finds an end soon. Eventually, game studios are going to find a hard time getting talented voices for their upcoming releases. When that happens, we all suffer.
