Alien: Isolation was a damn good game, and while it might not be uttered as frequently as many of the other classic horror games that have come along to reshape the current genre, there’s little question that in the three years since it’s been launched, it’s changed the way people have viewed, and how developers create, horror games. And more importantly, as far as publishers are concerned, it sold well enough, even if it couldn’t be called a smash hit.
So it was an inevitability, really, that a sequel would be made. And according to a new report leaked from the Official PlayStation Magazine, Creative Assembly may be ready to start working on it, now that Halo Wars 2 has been unleashed onto the public.
Unfortunately, that report turned out to be debunked rather quickly by the folks at Eurogamer, who have reached out to publications who reported the rumor to clarify that Creative Assembly is by no means working on the long-awaited (and overdue) sequel to Alien: Isolation.
I’m still of the opinion it’s going to happen sooner or later. The only real question is when. It’s also rather unusual for these kinds of rumors to be so quickly refuted, so if nothing else, a dead rumor is still worth reporting.
I’ll keep an eye out for better, living ones in the future.
