When it comes to video content, the Nintendo Switch has been rather lacking. Having released over a year ago, the console only offered the Hulu app. However, if a recent leak is to be trusted, we might see an official YouTube app coming to the console on November 8.
The app hasn't been formally announced, but if you search Nintendo's website for games, you may see the YouTube app suggested on the lower section of the page. Following the link leads nowhere, but this isn't the first time information has been leaked this way. Yoshi's Crafted World has its official name leaked in the same way.
This has been a highly requested feature for the handheld console. The mobility of the device drives the consumer's desire for a video player system. Imagine living in the comfort of your bed while playing Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp on your phone, with a YouTube video going off of the Switch. It was possible on the Wii U and even the 3DS, so why not the Switch?
Despite this, Nintendo has not been receptive to the medium. The company has previously stated that they have no intention of supporting live streaming service Twitch, believing that they are about playing games, not watching them. This has led to concerns over YouTube's inclusion.
Can this be trusted? Only time will tell.
