If we’re lucky, the only thing will be their long development times. Indeed, with E3 around the corner and the industry abuzz with all the possible reveals waiting for us, rumors are starting to swirl that one of those three games will be getting an official update at this year’s festivities. And I’ll give you a hint: the header image above and the title of the article ruins the surprise completely.
As reported by The Guardian:
" we have it on very good authority that this will be the year that Team Ico finally presents its follow-up to much loved classics Ico and Shadow of the Colossus.”
Of course, we’ve all heard that song and dance before, haven’t we? Ever since the game was announced six years ago at 2009’s E3, there has barely been a peep from the developers or publishers (being Team Ico and Sony, respectively) outside assuring fans that it’s still being developed and a temporary scare when Sony lost the trademark to the game out of negligence. I’d like to see this authority that The Guardian speaks of, because outside a proclamation from God or Fumito Ueda himself, I don’t think I’d believe anything before I saw it.
That said, with customer confidence in the product at an all-time low and Sony looking to follow up the critical success of Bloodborne, this year might be the best year of all to give us that reassurance. We’ll have to see for ourselves…
