According to the source, Silent Hills is 80% complete, and Microsoft is attempting to purchase the property for billions of dollars by E3 2015. In other words, in time for a mind-blowing announcement at Microsoft's E3 press conference.
So the possible "true" reason for the pull of the P.T. demo? "As a show of good faith to Microsoft."
AKA it's Microsoft's "toy" now.
Rooster Teeth claims that the selling of the P.T. property is part of Konami's strategy to flee the console business as soon as possible.
However, this rumor is to be taken a little lightly. After all, in December of last year, Norman Reedus (Walking Dead) said that the motion capture didn't start yet.
Neither Microsoft or Konami has confirmed the rumor yet. However, it should be noted that Konami provided a rather contradictory statement to IGN earlier:
"Konami will continue to embrace the challenge of creating entertainment content via different platforms; across not only mobile platforms, but for home consoles, arcade units, and cards, to meet the changing needs of the times."
