Since then, I've lacked a PlayStation 2 and a backwards-compatible PlayStation 3. But it appears that I, like many others, may have the opportunity to play it again, but this time for the PlayStation 4.
Last night, news during the fatabulous Distant Worlds concert, featuring Hitoshi Sakimoto, made social media erupt like a massive volcano. Conductor Arnie Roth admitted to the audience that a "remake" of Final Fantasy XII was definitely on the way. However, we can safely assume that the "remake" is actually a "remaster."
Though it would be shocking to see a full-blown remake of Final Fantasy XII.
This isn't out of the blue though. Square Enix has been teasing us with the idea for a good while now. Take for example, this quote from Shinja Hashimoto:
"Actually, not limited to just Final Fantasy X/X-2 HD Remaster, we're currently thinking of setting [a way] to have other past Final Fantasy titles playable on the PS4. However, this does not mean that we can simply transfer [these titles] to the PS4, so , as content holders, we must prepare a way to steadily have them available to play on the PS4."
Exciting, nevertheless. Hopefully we'll hear more about this soon, i.e. a confirmation. If so, we will more than likely be receiving the Japanese release of the Zodiac Job System edition, which grants characters the abilities to develop jobs rather than go all over the place on the license board. This version also includes a trial mode, new license boards, controllable guests and espers, an L1 speed boost, new gambits, items, enemies, New Game Plus, chest respawn changes, removed damage limits, and a new shop (affected by number of trophy rares defeated). We definitely have missed out on so much...
