Rumor: E3 Potentially Spoiled Thanks to Leaked List of Upcoming Games

Gosh darn it, Walmart.

E3 is typically the time of year when we get a giant dose of games to come: the discovery of what new sequel or battle royale game is around the corner is half the reason people tune in. But it seems like this year, most of the big new reveals have already been spoiled, thanks to Walmart.com’s over-eagerness to list games that will soon be available for preorder.

The list, which has since been removed, is as follows:
  • Tom Clancy's The Division 2]
  • Splinter Cell
  • Insurgency: Sandstorm
  • The Last of Us 2
  • Just Cause 4
  • Destiny Comet
  • Final Fantasy 7 Remake
  • Metroid Prime
  • Beyond Good and Evil 2
  • Rage 2
  • Assassin's Creed
  • NBA 2K19
  • WWE 2K19
  • Dragon Quest 2
  • Super Smash Bros.
  • Borderlands 3
  • Lego DC Villains
  • Dreams
  • Forza Horizon 5
  • Gears of War 5
Some items on this list are things we already knew about, such as The Last of Us 2, the FF7 remake, Beyond Good and Evil 2, Super Smash Brothers, and of course all of the sports titles. Others are a bit more eye-raising: Assassin’s Creed is there (a remaster, perhaps?), Just Cause 4, Gears of War 5, Rage 2, The Division 2, Borderlands 3…. None of these games have been announced yet.

(Editor's Note: Though what kind of makes this all the more eyebrow-raising is (sic) Forza Horizons 5... when there hasn't even been a Forza Horizon 4. Hmm...)

On one hand, it could be nothing. It’s not uncommon for retailers to list things they speculate are coming, without having the hard facts. On the other hand, after the leaks were announced Bethesda’s twitter responded to the news with a single word:

“Dude.”

Which probably means, at the very least, Rage 2 is actually coming. And if Rage 2, the game that would be hardest to predict (No one’s really surprised by Gears of War 5 or Borderlands 3, right?) seems authentic, that makes the other seem far more likely as well.

So if you were hoping this would be the year for Bloodborne 2, I got bad news.
