Rumor: Cyberpunk 2077 to be Playable at 2018 E3

Take this with all the salt you can find.

CD Projekt Red sparked the flames of discussion when the Cyberpunk 2077 Twitter account—long dormant—broke its four years of silence with a single “beep”. People have been debating what exactly it means, but a rumor has surfaced from a Polish website GRYOnline (via PC Gamer, who used Google Translate) that it may be signally a new playable trailer that will be shown at this year’s E3.

That’s quite the claim, but according to the website, it came independently from two separate sources, although they didn’t come forward with what exactly those sources are, or even what their relationship is with CD Proket Red. That said, they argue they “strongly believe” the game will be present (much in the way we were sure Bloodborne 2 would be at the last one).

That’s already pretty spotty, but there’s an even bigger grain of salt to toss into the mix: the rumor claims that while there will be a playable trailer, it will only be for a select few people, behind closed doors. So even if it does happen, the chances of you getting anything more than second-hand information about what was seen is pretty darn slim.

That said, E3 is pretty far away, and there had to be some reason the Twitter handle came to life. So who knows? Even if it is true, it’s doubtful CD Projekt Red would come out with it until just before E3, if even then, so it’s kind of pointless to speculate. It might be more productive—if you’re that type of person—to instead keep your eye on the Twitter handle while keeping up with their blog. More hints are bound to be incoming from there, unless their only plan is to tide us over through the next four years of silence.

Which I suppose would be funny in a sad sort of way.
