Like with every Bethesda game, a reveal is quickly followed by false rumors and claims of "insider information" by internet strangers. When addressing rumors, it's important to discern which should be given a second look. Amazon can be considered one of these.
First observed by Massively Overpowered, the original Amazon preorder pages for Fallout 76 (on PC and Console) listed the game as having a launch date of July 31, 2018, about two months from now. The listing has since been changed to December 31, 2019. But Massively Overpowered managed to screenshot the page before the change.
There are a few reasons why this one has struck me as more trustworthy than not. The fact that the date was changed to something much further away than originally shows that someone intentionally changed the date. Either it was factual, and they want to hide that, or they changed it purely to discourage any inaccurate hype. The other, more important detail is that according to a reliable source, Fallout 76 is "coming sooner than you might think." While they couldn't say more, July 31 would certainly fit this statement.
Whether you choose to believe this or not is up to you. We will most likely hear more about Fallout 76 at Bethesda's E3 press event, taking place this 9:30 pm ET Sunday, June 10. We plan to have our writers prepped and ready for immediate coverage of E3 this year, so stay tuned.
