Pop, Lock, and Rocket! A new season is about to kick off in Rocket League, but this time, it's based around EDM music. More so than usual, that is.
Rocket League has always been a purveyor of sick beats, featuring tracks by indie EDM artists over the many updates it's received in its years. But now the music is the actual focal point of a new in-game seasonal event. And they aren't going soft with it either, the event features new stages, cars, effects, and even music by publisher Monster Cat and artist Kaskade.
All of the new items, skins, effects, etc., will be based around music. This ranges from equalizer displays as rocket skins, dynamically pumping to the music, to music bars as boost trails. This will also be the first time a player can customize what music plays when they successfully make a goal.
This will all be part of Season 2, a multi-month long event where players can participate in challenges to unlock these themed rewards. This is part of the game's new monetization scheme, having recently gone free-to-play, with the option to purchase a Rocket Pass, which is needed to unlock certain items. Some options will be available regardless of Rocket Pass purchase.
Season 2 of Rocket League begins on December 9, 2020, and lasts until March 31, 2021. For more information, visit the official website.
