Rocket League Scores Big at QuakeCon 2015

So... addicting...

So what's the big hit at QuakeCon right now? Here's a hint: it's not DOOM or Quake.

In fact, it's Rocket League--that's right, Psyonix's Rocket League, which released July 7, 2015 for the PlayStation 4 and PC. Rocket League is typically a game that you wouldn't expect to be addicting: RC cars mixed with soccer. I mean, what's so fun about that?

Apparently, a lot, according to the extremely positive ratings all over the board and the number of hours clocked on my PlayStation 4 copy. Personally, I was able to pick up and play this gem thanks to the free PlayStation Plus program, and admittedly, it's hard to put down. Rocket League is best described as a combination of Oreos and Pringles: so good that you just can't stop once you start. You are pit against other cars, blowing up each other and pulling off amazing maneuvers to strike the ball into the goal. Additionally, you can decorate your cars with flames, colors, finishes, and more. Seriously, your car can have streams of cash flowing from its boosters.
With Rocket League, it's common to hear, "Just one more game."

Again.

And again.

And again.

For another hour... or five.

If you are at QuakeCon however, Rocket League is definitely worth getting in on with fellow gamers. If you don't have it, somehow, you can head on over to Steam to purchase your very own copy for only $19.99.

Of course, you can't just simply leave this article without taking a look at a trailer, now can you?

And just for good measure, here's my personal gameplay video of the PlayStation 4 version if you want a closer look:
