Riot Suspends Valorant Pro for Not Cooperating with Sexual Abuse Investigation

As for the alleged sexual abuse itself, we're still pending.

Riot Games may be willing to tolerate sexual harassment from their CEO and upper management, but they’re a lot less forgiving for their esport players. Thus, Valorant pro Jay 'Sinatraa' Won is being suspended for 6 months from professional play following allegations of sexual abuse from his ex-partner.

If that suspension seems kinda light for an accusation as serious as sexual abuse, it’s because he’s not actually being punished for that yet: rather, this 6-month suspension is because he’s refused to cooperate fully with Riot’s investigation on the legitimacy of the claims made against him.

"While the investigation did not come to a definitive conclusion on the underlying allegations, the Competitive Operations team had serious concerns with Sinatraa’s conduct during the course of the investigation. It was determined that on at least two occasions Sinatraa misrepresented certain facts, made false statements, and did not cooperate with the investigation in a way expected of a professional Valorant esports player.

"Of note, Sinatraa’s public commitment on social media to provide the full audio and video clip referenced in the original post was never fulfilled. Cooperation in these investigations is of the utmost importance, especially when the nature of the allegations is as serious as sexual assault. This behavior will not be tolerated by Valorant Esports."

So while Riot wasn’t able to conclude if the allegations against Jay were legit, they did note that the police were currently on the job now, and if they were to uncover anything against him, they would revisit his punishment.

Won, for what it’s worth, claimed he couldn’t provide everything Riot asked for, since the audio and video clips that apparently would help prove his innocence were deleted on the request of his ex-partner.

In any case, we’ll just have to hope that the cops do their job and justice is done.
