Every year the people over at Riot Games decide to have a little fun with the League of Legends community. Normally they decide to roll out some Ultra Rapid Fire for people to play, but this year they decided to something a little different. This April Fools Day, Riot sent out a little notification. It told players that Riot is currently testing Advanced Bots publicly and if you play an unranked game on Summoner's Rift, there's a chance that you will get matched up against them.

Naturally, the first game I played got me matched up with bots. They said their stupid little greeting and the game began. All chat was disabled throughout the game, which was a bit odd. Either way, we played the game out. My friend was in the top lane and he's talking about how easy it is as he goes up 2-0 on the bot. I wanted to troll him a bit so I fed the top laner 4 free kills to make it a bit more challenging. All of sudden, the bots started playing a bit strangely.

It even got to a point where one of them flashed their mastery after picking up a kill. I couldn't believe that bots were seriously BM'ing us so we decided to kick it up a notch. I eventually ended up disconnecting because somebody hit a pole outside my house and my internet went down for a bit. By the time I came back, our base was raided by bots and the game was over. In the post-game screen things changed pretty quickly.

Turns out we weren't playing against bots at all. We had been trolled by Riot. Basically, you pick your champion and Riot will rename you [champion] Bot. It makes you think that you're playing against bots and the people on the other team think the same thing. In the post-game screen it shows you all the actual names of the players you were in game with and you can all laugh and talk about how Riot successfully trolled the community.
