Celebrity promotions are nothing new to the entertainment industry. They aren't even new to video games (Conan's video game segments, for example). But I never expected this. Animated TV show characters Rick and Morty are teaming up with Twitch Streamer Ninja and hip-hop artist Logic to play Fallout 76 this Thursday.

Before you start double checking your URL to make sure you didn't accidentally fall for a Clickhole article, yes this is real. It was announced on the Fallout Twitter and Bethesda website. The promotional event was an idea by Ader eSports Agency, who believed that viewers getting to interact with in-game personifications of the titular show characters would make for an "immersive experience."

Thursday will also be the final BETA session for the upcoming multiplayer RPG. While Fallout 76 doesn't formally launch until November 14, developers Bethesda has been running limited time sessions for those registered in their BETA (Break it Early Test Application) program. Only two more sessions remain until the game's launch, November 6 and November 8. The latter date is when the Rick and Morty live stream will commence.

Fallout 76 is the next Bethesda title planned for launch. It takes the post-apocalyptic world of the Fallout franchise into the ruins of West Virginia. It will also the first fully multiplayer RPG for the Fallout games.

The Rick and Morty live stream is scheduled for November 8 at 9 PM Eastern Time, viewable on Mixer and Twitch. Fallout 76 releases on PC, Xbox One, and PS4 on November 14.
