Chances are, if you're a nerd and you watch TV, you are. And for those of you who are familiar and enamored with the work of Justin Roiland and Dan Harmon, then you'll be happy to hear that the two of them have some very exciting news to share: two new projects, unrelated to Rick and Morty, have come from them, and gosh, both of them seem to share the same creative flair that turned their hallmark TV show into the modern classic that it is today.
First of all, Justin Roiland has been collaborating with the creators of The Stanly Parable to create a new, free VR game, which was just released over Steam the other day. This game, called Accounting, is just that... a game about accounting.
"The modern field of Accountancy is a serious and honorable profession. Many human beings have spent their lives toiling over the hard science of numbers. Thousands have died so that we may get to the level of understanding that we have today. Thousands have died. However, as Accountants and Numbersmiths embraced the abacus and the calculator, today we must embrace the latest technological advancement,"
...And some other stuff too. It's kind of hard to tell based on the gameplay, but acid and numbers definitely play SOME role. I don't have VR, so I won't get the chance to check it out, but it is currently free on Steam, so, again, any of you fancy tech wizards have a good shot at unraveling this non-mystery.
The second, announced by co-creator Dan Harmon, is of a different type entirely: he's announced a new six-episode, half-hour TV show that will air on YouTube Red that will follow five eSports athletes as they crawl up the ranks to fame and fortune.
It'll star Dan Avidan and Arin Hanson, otherwise known as the Game Grumps folks, and will it will co-star eStream host Michele Morrow and YouTube personality Jesse Cox. So that's neat. We don't know much else, but based on the talent involved, I'm going to guess it's a comedy.
So, a lot of neat stuff to look forward too! Or, rather, one thing to look forward too, another thing I'll never get to play myself!
Good enough.
