Plenty of developers know how to make a game capable of igniting laughter. Even better is a developer making a humorous video over a humorous game. By the creators of the popular, godly Reus, Abbey Games' sense of humor is back in the now-released title Renowned Explorers... which is about...

Well, just look at the title, and there you go.

This cutesy game, set in the 19th Century, is based on RNG rolls and strategy, but with a twist of your funny bone. Built around an adventurous theme and attitude-based gameplay, Renowned Explorers is inspired by FTL, XCOM, and most unexpectedly, The Sims.

According to Adriaan Jansen, co-founder and game designer of Abbey Games:

"We created a world full of procedurally generated locations to explore that feels like those of Indiana Jones and Tintin. The player can choose how to approach any encounters ahead: violently or verbally."

The last statement in the quote actually refers to the attitude-based gameplay, where explorers can utilize physical or social strategic approaches to overcome the opposition.

Each crew member--out of 20 divided into Fighters, Scouts, Speakers, and Scientists--of the exploration team is unique in expertise and character traits. For example, Yvonne Lefevre is assertive, intelligent, and the center of attention--all traits that can thwart any thug verbally speaking.

Featuring procedurally generated expeditions, strategic crew selections, and many routes of fame, Renown Explorers offers hours of gameplay. Can your feats match the likes of history's greatest explorers, such as David Livingstone?

Renowned Explorers is now available on PC via Steam, GoG, Humble Bundle, Greenman Gaming, and GamesRocket. Those who are early adopters of Renowned Explorers are treated to a 10 percent starter discount, but players who have a copy of Reus in the first three listed platform's inventories are treated to a 25 percent loyalty discount.

To kick off the release, there will be several competitions held with prizes including compasses and extra keys. All you need to do is search for one of five hidden treasures in-game that will earn you everlasting fame. So what are ya waiting for!? Hop to it!
