What's a great way to increase publicity for a game?

Insert a popular figure into the game, that's what!

Developer Powerhoof decided to stuff a neat little surprise in their retro indie game titled "Crawl": Gabe Newell.

Co-founder and president of Valve appears in Crawl not as a sidekick or a positive figure, but instead a tough-as-nails, knife-wielding, and in-your-face boss.

Quoting Powerhoof's excitement:

I couldn't resist! I've been wanting to animate this for soooo long!

Better yet, you are able to play as Gabe Newell in the rogue-like dungeon-crawler. One player, the hero, must vanquish the enemy, whereas three other players take on the roles of the enemies. In a sense, the gameplay is like tag. If an enemy manages to kill the hero, the hero becomes the monster and the murderer becomes the hero.

Currently, the overwhelmingly positive Crawl is in early access, but it has been available since August 2014. You can purchase Crawl on Steam for $9.99.
