The classic horror franchise is bringing their roots back and onto the Nintendo Switch! Resident Evil 0, 1, and 4 will be released as digital downloads later this year.

The announcement was made via the Resident Evil Twitter account, where they also revealed the titles' release date to be May 21.

"Resident Evil 0, 1, and 4 are coming to Nintendo Switch eShop on May 21!

Play all three masterpieces anywhere, such as:
- On trains
- During mansion tours
- Across the European countryside

Pre-orders start on Feb 28!"

The three examples given are, as you may have guessed, in reference to the settings of the respective games. In Resident Evil Zero, a prequel to the first game, Officer Rebecca Chambers of the Bravo STARS team investigates a wrecked train system infected by the T-virus. The game originally released on the Nintendo GameCube in 2002.

In Resident Evil, Bravo team is sent to investigate a series of cannibalistic murders on the outskirts of Raccoon City. The game follows STARS team Alpha, sent out after Bravo went missing, as they investigate a large mansion in the last known location. This game originally released on the PlayStation in 1996.

Resident Evil 4, one of the most beloved survival horror games of all time, takes place six years after the events of Resident Evil 2. Protagonist Leon Kennedy is tasked with searching a European countryside for the President's daughter, who was abducted by a strange cult.

All three games will release on Nintendo Switch on May 21. Pre-orders for the games will be available as early as February 28. North American players will be able to purchase a special bundled edition, which combines Resident Evil Zero and 1 into a single purchase.
