Capcom has recently announced that the "Not A Hero" DLC for Resident Evil 7 will not be releasing on schedule. In a video, game director Koshi Nakanishi explains that they've decided to delay the release of the "Not A Hero" DLC because they believe it's not up to expectations at the moment given the alarmingly positive reviews and general feedback the base game has received.
It's not every day that a developer actually delays content because they believe it's not good enough for the fans, and it's definitely a welcomed sight. It's safe to assume from Koshi's statement that Capcom did not expect Resident Evil 7 to be as successful as it was, and because of its success, they are delaying this free-DLC because they want it to live up to the base game's experience. While delays can be disappointing, I think we can all agree that quality is worth waiting for.
The DLC was originally supposed to release this spring, but it will be delayed to a further date. No details on a specific release date were discussed. Capcom has reassured us that the Not A Hero DLC will still be releasing for free as planned, and they also hinted at another piece of DLC that is currently under development. You can watch the announcement video below: It's in Japanese but you can turn on English subtitles via the closed captions icon.
SPOILER ALERT: This video contains spoilers regarding the ending of Resident Evil 7 as it ties into the new "Not A Hero" DLC.
