Resident Evil 7 came out the other day, and while we haven’t had many reviews so far, early impressions are quite positive. Good! It’s an old series, and it deserves a bit of respect from the people who actually make the things. But, if there’s one less-than-nice quality about the game, which is reportedly doing a lot of things right, it’s the fact that Capcom has been quick to push DLC out for the game, which… is a little weird, as it seems to be a nicely self-contained little story, but sure, gotta make money somehow.
Although maybe reporting on the first two bits of DLC you can get a day after release, and then releasing the first one less than a week later, is a bit overboard. I mean, it’s better than day one DLC, but not THAT much better.
Whatever. The first DLC, Banned Footage Volume 1, will be coming out January 31st for the PS4, and everyone else will get it on February 21st, for around 10 bucks. It’ll have the following:
Bedroom: Figure out how to escape from a locked room - but don't let Marguerite Baker know you've been out of bed.
Nightmare: Fend off waves of enemies and survive until morning.
Extra Mode - Ethan Must Die: A tough-as-nails mode separate from the tapes and story of the main game. (Does not support PSVR)
The second pack, Banned Footage Vol. 2, will be available for PS4 February 14th, and everywhere else on February 21st for 15 bucks. It’ll include the following:
21: Gambe life and limb in a deadly game run by Lucas Baker.
Daughters: See what the Baker family was like before the tragic events of Resident Evil 7 biohazard.
Extra Mode - Jack's 55th Birthday: Race against the clock and feed Jack tons of food in this comical extra game mode separate from the tapes and story of the main game. (Does not support PSVR)
Neat. I guess. A little insulting, as this used to be the kind of thing that would cause an outcry by the community, but stick to your guns long enough and anything that was once insulting can turn normal, which… that’s a scary thought, isn’t it?
