It happens to people every year, and it totally sucks every single time. Maybe you make it to your car to see your window broken out. Or perhaps you make it home alright, but your door happens to be ajar. Regardless, it means the same thing: you've been robbed. It happens much more often around the holiday season (which makes it suck just that much more). And it's all because thieves know this is the time of year you have some expensive goodies lying around for the taking.
And it rarely involves comedic hijinks.
So take this as a reason to stay safe during the holiday season. Hide your gift-hauls in the trunk, if you can. Keep where you're storing gifts away from window shot. Consider buying a considerably sized dog. And also, try to save your expensive purchases for the end of your trips. That way you can go straight home with them. It's unfortunately far too easy for a thief to watch you carry that $4,000 projector to your car and then follow you to Krispy Kreme (where you're going to at least spend ten minutes).
So yeah, be careful. Or just buy everything digitally. That works too.
