Can't keep a good ass-kicker down.

Last we heard from ol’ Reggie Fils-Aime, the dude had stepped down as President of Nintendo of America and said he was going to use all his new fee time to hang out with his family, advance his hobbies, and generally enjoy life. But as it turns out, a big part of “enjoying life” is “making enormous sums of money,” so it should come as little surprise that the dude would land in another cushy position before long, considering his enormous success with Nintendo.

That position? A member of the board of directors at GameStop. From his newly-minted portfolio from the press release:

Reginald “Reggie” Fils-Aimé, 58, is an accomplished media and technology executive who brings more than 35 years of experience transforming companies, revitalizing brands and reshaping industries. From 2006 to 2019, he served as President and COO of Nintendo of America, Inc. During his tenure, Mr. Fils-Aimé focused on the development and launch of industry re-defining products, including the Nintendo DS, Wii, Nintendo 3DS and Nintendo Switch, quadrupling the company’s revenue from 2005 to 2010, and oversaw the successful implementation of the company’s digital strategy. He previously served as Nintendo of America’s EVP of Sales and Marketing from 2003 to 2006.

Reggie had significantly less to say on the subject, and he said it on Twitter:

The gaming industry needs a healthy and vibrant @GameStop. I look forward to being a part of @GameStopCorp Board and helping to make this happen.

Joining him are two other peeps, a former executive at Walmart, and the former president and CEO of PetSmart. But obviously we don’t really care much about those people.

For fans(?) of GameStop out there who are hoping this will be the shot of new blood the company needs, I’d keep my expectations down. The Board of Directors doesn’t have no power, but they don’t so much make decisions as they oversee them. Reggie won’t be able to do for them what he did for Nintendo in his current position. But he will make some good money in any case.
