Awhile ago, we've heard about the sad tale of Woolfe - The Red Hood Diaries. The company went bankrupt because their 2.5D puzzle-platformer did not sell well over less-than-stellar reviews (controls were wonky, combat was meh, story fell flat), and though backers were understanding, they demanded their rewards.

Which is also understandable. After all, you backed the project and helped bring the game to fruition, and to be told you're not getting your physical rewards is a major kick to the chest, especially if the rewards are already set to go and the problem is payment for shipping (seriously, someone suggested that he would pay for the shipping for the soundtrack, which is honestly a good idea).

So we have validly upset backers whom we thought were going to be without any physical rewards. But fortunately, the light has shone on these backers, as indie UK developer Rebellion purchased the IP and all assets of Woolfe. Pretty cool huh?

According to Jason Kingsley, Rebellion's CEO and Creative Director:

"We're really keen to do the right thing by the Woolfe backers.

Just because we've joined the Woolfe project much further down the road doesn't mean we shouldn't respect the people who made it happen in the first place. If a backer hasn't received the reward they pledged for, we're going to do our best to get it to them, even if we have to make it ourselves."

That's really heartfelt and fantastic. Kudos to Rebellion, for sure.

As for the future of Woolfe, who knows what will happen, because Rebellion hasn't decided to do anything with the IP yet. After all, it's most important and priority for these backers to get what they deserve.
