"Realism" Mode Challenges you to Survive Call of Duty: BO3 Without getting Shot Once

Just like real life, a single bullet can ruin your day.

Black Ops 3 has already made headlines recently with the reveal that you could play the campaign missions in any order you like, which was an innovative but not entirely nifty way to make talking about Call of Duty Black Ops 3 worth journalistic effort, thus generating hype for the game via free advertising.

And now we're doing it again. But this time, it's because of a feature I'm actually excited about, rather than one I just kind of pretend to care about.

Because while I'm honestly not much of a fan of twitch shooters, as I like to call them--FPSs where whoever sees the other first and fires the first salvo generally wins the encounter--the idea of going all-in on that premise actually kind of interests me. In that vein, Activision has just announced a new difficulty for the Call of Duty Black Ops 3 campaign: 'realism.' Which, once you hear about it, might be even MORE challenging than a real black ops mission.

"[In Realistic] you have one point of life, so if you're shot once, you're dead. It completely changes the way you play the game. You all have to survive as a group. You end up respecting the level in a completely different way, and once gunfire opens up, everyone just drops to the ground, because if any one bullet hits you or a grenade goes off near you, you're dead."

So yeah--one shot kills. Even in reality you can sometimes take two or three or ten bullets before going down, but apparently Black Ops 3 isn't that forgiving. Speaking as a guy who likes those tense moments, I'm pretty interested in a mode like that, although I'll be the first to admit it doesn't exactly catapult Black Ops 3 onto the top of my must-buy list. But if it does that for you, then grats! Another excuse to spend money!
