Okay, we've known about the re-imagining (not a reboot) of Ratchet & Clank for a little bit of time now. However, we finally have received a first look at the PS4 exclusive, tidbits of information, and the news that the title will be playable at E3 next week.

Unfortunately, the re-imagining will not be released until Spring 2016, which is near (or on, depending) the release date of April 29, 2016 for the Ratchet & Clank movie.

As far as gameplay, James Stevenson, community relations manager for Insomniac, has shared with us a taste of the weaponry that will exist in this re-imagining. After all, I'm sure many can agree that the quirky weaponry was one of the best aspects in the series. Funny enough, almost none of the weapons from the original Ratchet & Clank will be involved. However, do expect the best weapons discovered in the other entries to be available.

Oh, I hope this includes the Ryno II! Such a fun weapon.

So far, the confirmed weapons are:
  • Pixelizer, a new weapon that turns enemies into exploding 8-bit pixels.
  • The Groovitron, which is a floating disco ball that caused enemies to dance uncontrollably.
  • Mr. Zurkon, a synthenoid that aided Ratchet by shooting at enemies with a mounted laser blaster.
  • The Bouncer, which is pre-order only, is a weapon that launches a bomb, followed by tiny little homing bombs that bounce to their enemies.
Personally, I'm not a huge fan of the Bouncer, but it is a fan favorite, so many will be happy to see this return. The re-imagining will also come equipped with "modern controls, several new planets, new and updated gameplay segments, all-new Clank gameplay, all new boss fights, new flight sequences, and more."

Pinch me, because I must be dreaming.

What makes this news all the more sweeter is the gameplay footage, featuring gorgeous in-game footage, of which you can find below:

Ratchet & Clank will be based on the film, which dives deeper into Ratchet's origin. James Arnold Taylor will reprise the role of Ratchet, which is fantastic, because I cannot think of a better person for the task.

Look forward to updates on the re-imagining of Ratchet & Clank next week E3!
