It is with a heavy heart that we report that Remi Gazel, the composer of the first Rayman game, has passed away.

A post was made on May 26, 2019, at 11:05 AM EDT on Gazel's official Twitter account. The post, written by Gazel's wife, announced his passing, due to a long-time battle with cancer.

"My husband Remi has just left us. Despite his constant struggle, his desire to live and the constant and unwavering support of his loved ones, cancer got the better of him. The funeral will be held at the Pech Bleu in BÉZIERS, Friday 31 at 9:45. Nathalie GAZEL"

Rayman was a very influential game series to many of us today. His music was the backtrack to countless childhoods. It's very unfortunate to hear of his passing. We wish the best to his friends, family, and anyone else affected by this.

If you want to take in more of Gazel's work, we recommend visiting his official website, which links to his various works through the years. Otherwise, you can also listen to the video below. It's a full album of Rayman 1's music.
