Randy Pitchford Teases Duke Nukem Announcement on December 1st

It's sure to be something. Probably.

I have to admit, the affection that some people hold towards Duke Nukem forever genuinely baffles me. I mean, I guess he scratches a weird sort of itch for people, but ultimately I always found the gameplay to be a poor man's doom, and the character himself to be rather... dull. He's just machismo, raw testosterone, given a body... and while that might be cool as a parody, the fact that he's so apparently unironically loved by many just kind of weirds me out. But, heck, nothing wrong with people liking things, and for those of you who like Duke Nukem, well, I've got great news for you: apparently, Gearbox has some plans for the character, plans which will be revealed on the first day of December.

We know this because, over Twitter, Randy Pitchford was casually talking about a young man yelling at him about Gears of War 4: when one of his followers suggested a Duke Nukem/Gears of War crossover would be pretty cool, he replied with the following:

On December 1st, we are announcing something you might really enjoy :)

A Gears of War/Duke Nukem Crossover? Doubt it. Gearbox doesn't even own Gears of War, and while Gearbox certainly has a close relationship with Microsoft, who owns The Coalition, the owners of Gears of War 4, I think the two IP's don't really have much in common... outside unreasonably large neck muscles, I mean. What's more likely is Gearbox announcing a new Duke Nukem game, or unveiling Duke Nukem to be a new character in Battleborn, which would be just the thing to inject that dying game with... well... nothing. It would inject it with nothing.

But, hey: maybe it could be a last minute introduction into the Super Smash Brothers roster or something, I don't know. We'll find out on December 1st, apparently.

So, look forward to that. I guess.
