When exploring the magic of the internet, one has to always be wary of less-than-savory word usage. Ubisoft is looking to put an end to this in their popular shooter, Rainbow Six Siege. As of yesterday, any player that uses hate speech or racial/homophobic slurs via the in-game text chat is quickly met with an automatic instant ban.
It begins with 27-minute ban for all game modes, increasing to two hours after the next two violations. After this, the account will be investigated, and a permanent ban will be considered.
While your average gamer will likely respond positively, this has unsurprisingly led to a wave of criticism toward the game's official Twitter account. Though much to the style of Wendy's, the social media account has been retaliating with no reservation.
Players can easily avoid being banned by not using hateful slurs or messages.@rowdywrynn
