Do you like post-apocalyptic worlds? Do you like cats? Do you like survival games? If you answered yes to at least two of those questions, then I'm pretty sure you'll want to look out for the release of Rain World this month. Rain World is a Survival Platformer set in an urban, post-apocalyptic world where mutated creatures run rampant. There is a new food chain, and you take the place of a creature called a Slugcat. Adorable as it sounds, it's pretty self-explanatory as well. It looks pretty much how you would imagine, a mix between a slug and a cat, thankfully it has the face of a cat, or else it wouldn't be as cute.

In Rain World, you maneuver through the terrain as Slugcat, evading dangerous prey and also hunting as well. Resources in the environment are limited, so like many survival games, you have to choose your decisions wisely. According to developer Videocult, Rain Worlds animations are so smooth, diverse, and unique looking because they are procedurally-generated. The game will supposedly have a huge world, giving players much to explore with over 1600 rooms in the map. We rarely get to put ourselves in the shoes; or I guess paws in this case,  of a cute creature such as a cat, in a post-apocalyptic world, attempting to survive all odds against terrifying beasts. Usually, it's just humans. Good on Videocult for changing it up a bit, and giving the cat lovers in the gaming community something to geek over for a change.

Publisher Adult Swim has announced that Rain World will launch on PC and PS4 on March 28th. It will be priced at $19.99. A PlayStation Vita version of the game was confirmed to be in development, though Adult Swim made no mention in their official launch statement. I wonder if the recent release of the Nintendo Switch had anything to do with this decision. We'll soon find out either way.
