Personal bit: I may not be the first to admit this, but I am absolutely infatuated with Katamari Damacy. Each game is creative, wacky, whimsical, moo-filled, creepy (i.e. the King), vivid, and all-in-all, a wonderful stress reliever. Very rare does a game strike a fit of encouraged giggles, but Katamari, especially Beautiful Katamari, accomplishes this.
Oh, the days of playing in the online sandbox.
Nevertheless, to hear of Wattam was almost a dream come true. When it appeared at E3 2014 for the first time, I, alongside others, fangasmed when watching the Mayor grab his circular hat and stroll out the door. However, any news of Wattam's progress has remained on the down-low since.
Until yesterday. Yesterday unraveled a sneak peak of Wattam's gameplay, leaving behind a trail of squeals.
To delve a bit into the game, the premise was inspired by Keita Takahashi's two-year-old son. Wattam features a colorful, joyous world, in which everything mundane, from hats to turntables to sushi, comes to life.
The goal of the game is to explore new lands, gain new behaviors and earn new music. Befriend new objects and stack and chain them into big groups. Once large enough, set off an explosion and watch your friends fly in glee (I hope)!

From there, the mayor's friends grow and build, soon linking together into a massive group, which is then completed when the tree comes to life to balance the linked groups. After a countdown of three...
BOOM!
And off they go.
Wattam will be playable at E3 2015. Hopefully the release date will be unveiled there too.
Did you know you can party in the game with your turn-table buddy? Ahhh yea! The music is totally fitting for a club scene.
