The annual Texas-based QuakeCon is considered the ultimate LAN party for a variety of reasons, ranging from the food offered to the number of players at the scene. Gamers from all over the world join together for fun and laughter, emphasizing what LAN and multi-player gaming has and should always thrive on: bonding.

That being said, we're going to provide a quick list to help you out on your QuakeCon journey. Need ideas for diverse games? We have you covered. Though you can always refer to our Modern LAN Gaming article for some games, here are some additional ones that should click the lightbulb in your head:

Rocket League

Part RC car and part soccer, Rocket League demonstrates how fun a non-traditional sport can actually be. Though Rocket League has been referred to in its own GZU article, it's good to reiterate that it has rapidly gained popularity at QuakeCon--undoubtedly many players are heard shouting and laughing behind their screens. With five minute matches (not counting overtime), car customization, and explosions, this game will keep you and your buddies entertained for hours.

Unturned.jpg

Unturned

Currently a favorite LAN title of Gamerz Unite (*coughuntilRocketLeaguecough*), Unturned pits you in a Minecraft world stuffed with zombies. Build structures with friends, roam desolate towns, and rip zombies apart--that's what survival's all about. Nothing screams bonding more than Unturned anyway. By the way, it's free. Jus' sayin'.

Quake Series

I don't need to really explain myself here. It's being held at QuakeCon, and it's an extremely popular game among LAN gamers. I would heartily recommend QuakeLive, as it's free and is one of the official games of the QuakeCon tournaments.

Team Fortress 2

A fun title for LAN-gaming, Team Fortress 2 offers a lot of competition and a lot of hilarious fun. Combine said fun with constant updates of new game modes, maps, equipments, and of course, hats, and you have a long-lasting game for any LAN party. Additionally, the title offers nine distinct classes and a ton of mods, so it's bound to entertain you and your friends for a good while... for free!

C&C3.jpg

Command & Conquer: The Ultimate Edition

Known for redefining the RTS genre, the C&C series offer the "ultimate strategic warfare MMO gaming experience." You can definitely pick up the entire collection, which includes 17 games, for $19.99. Unfortunately, GameSpy ended online hosting, but here's a guide to get a LAN game going, just in case.

---------------------------

Wolfenstein.jpg

Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory

It's Wolfenstein. It's free. It has offline LAN support. It supports up to 32 players. It has plenty of positive ratings. I don't think anything more needs to be said.

---------------------------

Dungeonland.jpg

Dungeonland

Cooperative, hack-and-slash-filled, four classes, and a medieval theme park--the perfect setting for a fun day with friends. Considered a vibrant and colorful alternative to the Diablo series, LAN gamers can enjoy a good guffaw as they attempt to overcome the big and bad overseer. For additional giggles, you can always slip into the shoes of the overseer and unleash a variety of menaces, including killer rabbits, exploding frogs, and giant fans. If that's not fun-inducing, I don't know what is.

KF2.jpg

Killing Floor 2

The popular sequel to the equally popular Killing Floor, Killing Floor 2 offers better graphics, advance melee and smarter enemies than its predecessor. Though in Early Access, it has already earned a Very Positive rating on Steam. Offering six-player co-op and an expanded perk system, there's no reason fans of the shooter genre shouldn't pick this up!

Though this is just a small list, hopefully it will help you pick your perfect QuakeCon game.
