QuakeCon 2018 is inching ever closer to us, if you consider Thursday, August 9, closer. While we have a while to wait still, tickets and registration will be opening up soon. This time, they're introducing a new group ticketing system. Here are the details.

Ticketing will be available this Friday, June 29. General admission is free, which allows access to QuakeCon and to spectate the tournaments, panels, and events. Ticket sales for the BYOC and above will start at 7:30 pm CT, purchasable through the QuakeCon Showclix webpage for $75. This option comes with all of the general admission, participation in the BYOC tournaments, a special badge and pin, and a reserved seat at BYOC. For $200, you can get the QdQ option, which gives all of the previous, as well as priority access to the BYOC and events. Finally there's the UAC option, costing a hefty $400, this comes with everything before, as well as VIP customer support, a personalized badge, a premium BYOC chair, and exclusive swag.

In an effort to improve the event and address some long-time requests from attendees, the event is now offering group ticketing. This will allow interested parties to purchase up to 10 tickets in a single transaction. This will help friend groups and clans to more easily sit together during events. Each ticket requires its own attendee name, with a matching photo ID upon entry to the event.

They will also be offering seats and swag packs during purchase, depending on the ticket tier you choose. Available in limited quantities, the swag pack comes with a pin, a QuakeCon bag, keychain, water bottle, gaming mat, and an inflatable gun.

There are a few details the organizers made a point to mention a few restrictions.
  • One UAC Seat per transaction.
  • Three Swag Packs per transaction.
  • Swag bags may only be purchased by residents of the United States.
  • Must be present at QuakeCon and able to provide proof of purchase to claim your Swag Pack.
They also responded to a few frequently asked questions, summarized below.
  • No ticket queue, sales will take you directly to seat selection.
  • There are 4,500 BYOC seats that are available for reservation, 250 QdQ upgrades, and 500 Swag Packs.
  • Contact customer support at support@showclix.com if there's a problem with ticket purchases.
  • All ticket types will be released at the same time.
  • You do not need a BYOC or above to purchase Swag Packs, general admission can.
I have a feeling those swag packs are going to be sold out very quickly. The full details can be found at the QuakeCon forums post.
