One of the best things about QuakeCon is the community involvement. When Bethesda/id Software aren't cooking up something incredible, players and fans are making their own fun. This time it's Shacknews' The Great Quakeholio Tournament at QuakeCon 2018!

Much like when they hosting the $50,000 Gaming World Championship at E3 2018, website Shacknews will be hosting a 128 player tournament. Kicking off Friday, August 10 at 7 PM at the Gaylord Texan Resort and Convention Center, Participants will be competing for first, second, and third place, each with a $3,000, $1,500, and $500 cash prize respectively.

Watch live video from Shacknews on www.twitch.tv

Players will play through a gauntlet of id Software classics, such as Doom, Doom 2, Quake, Quake 2, and Quake Live. You can sign up to participate for yourself at the Shacknews Signup webpage. If you can't make it to the event in person, you can watch it live on their Twitch channel, embedded above.

What a better way to have fun than with some retro shooters?
