Yes, at the Hilton Anatole in Dallas, TX, will be building a $15 million resort pool in order to attract a "sophisticated and upscale customer base." There are some major plans for this three-acre facility that will be next to the sculpture garden: the implementation of a leisure pool, a family and children's area with a beach-entry pool, two 30-foot slides, and a lazy river. So yes, it's turning into quite the luxurious water park. Except for some unfortunate restrictions--the leisure pool will be open 365.25 days a year, but the family area and lazy river will be open between Memorial Day and Labor Day. But hey, the pool will take on an Asian design that complements the overall theme of the Anatole. Furthermore, 15 to 20 works of art will be placed within the resort, distributed by the Crow family (the owners of the hotel).
General Manager Harold Rapoza comments on the art:
"It was really important to the owners that we keep the branding of the Anatole, and Asian art is a uniqueness that separates us from other hotels."
But wait, there's more! QuakeCon attendees can expect to lounge in cabanas or take get some fresh air using the walking paths and green space. Even better is that there is a planned outdoor restaurant and bar and a 23-seat swim up bar. And in case QuakeCon is interested in hosting outdoor events, there are two new event lawns that will accommodate up to 200 people.
The hotel's resort will open around Memorial Day of next year, and there will be 150 seasonal workers to staff the area.
Unfortunately, in exchange for the resort, the tennis courts will be removed. But this is awesome for QuakeCon attendees in any case. Now you can attend a LAN party AND weekend resort! By the way, make sure to mark your calendars for QuakeCon 2016, beginning August 6, 2016.
