Capcom's first puzzle fighter game, confusingly named Super Puzzle Fighter II Turbo to capitalize on the popularity of Street Fighter 2 as the "new" start of the Franchise, was first launched in 1996 to acclaim and warm praise from fans. It wasn't world-changing or anything, but it was a well-executed puzzle game that had all your favorite Street Fighter characters in adorable chibi-form, faux battling each other as you played a matching puzzle game.
We've had a few more games in the spin-off's series, but nothing in recent years... until now. In a move that would surprise people who don't own phones, Capcom has decided that the logical place to host the next Puzzle Fighter game is your smartphone: and to celebrate the return of the series, they're expanding the roster to include characters from all your favorite Capcom games, from Dead Rising to Megaman and more.
Check out the trailer, if you want to call it that.
Is it just me or is Chibi Megaman kind of terrifying?
Anyway. We don't know much about the game, but we don't really need too. It's a free-to-play puzzle game for phones, I think we all have a good estimation of how it's gonna work. The game will launch in select regions soon, and the rest of the world late this year.
Excited? Not? Can't blame you either way.
