Punch-Out!! is Coming to Nintendo Switch Arcade Archives

The tough-hitting Nintendo game, Punch-Out!!, has seen its way through a number of consoles and iterations, including an arcade variation. Now that specific version is coming to the Nintendo Switch as part of the Arcade Archives line. This information comes to us from Impress Game Watch, who reported a release on March 30 in Japan. 

The original arcade version of Punch-Out!! is coming to Nintendo Switch as part of the Arcade Archives line, according to a report from Impress Game Watch. Arcade Archives' Punch-Out!! will hit the Switch in Japan on March 30. A North American release has not been announced. 

The port is being handled by Hamster, known for its history of developing Switch ports, including the original Mario Bros. game. This version will include a selection of display options since the original arcade version used a dual monitor display. On the Switch, you can choose to have these two screens displayed vertically or horizontally.

The arcade version of Punch-Out!! was first released in Japan in 1983 and came to North America the following year. It was originally designed as a way to help mitigate Nintendo's surplus of monitors, thus the dual screen feature. After a sequel and a spin-off game called Arm Wrestling, the game would later be released on the NES.
