Playable first throughout the PC test servers, PUBG will soon have the option to toggle which maps you want to play on. This comes right on time since the game will also be receiving a new, third map here soon.
PUBG Corp. understood how this might affect matchmaking, and have expressed their precaution towards exactly that:
We analyzed tens of millions of matches and sorted the data by server, mode, and time to make sure map selection wouldnt break the game for anyone. We wanted to make sure that we could create a solution that worked for every region's players, even the ones with a naturally low server population.
The map selector, seen above, will work like so. A list of available maps will display along the screen. If there is a map you do not wish to play, deselect it. Should you have more than one map selected, your matchmaking system will randomly select one of these map games to join.
PUBG Corp. has yet to say whether this feature will be added to the Xbox One version of the game. Currently, the console variant is still limited to the first, original map. The arid Miramar is expected to join the console roster in May.
