Psychonauts 2 Hits 3.3 Million Raised

Meanwhile, I'd jump off a bridge for a 20

Early last December, Double Fine announced that it would be going to FIG, the Transparent Crowdfunding alternative, to begin raising money for the follow-up to what has easily been their most successful game, Psychonauts.  Called Psychonauts 2 (because all their creative energy can't leak over into naming things, I suppose), they were asking for a whooping 3.3 million from their fans to help make the game a reality.  And while I like Psychonauts as much as the next person, it struck me as a bit conceded to ask for the exact sum your LAST crowndfunded game earned... a game that not only was delivered late and in chunks, but also wasn't terribly... you know... good.

Still, my opinion counts for squat, because everyone else disagreed with my indifference and, barely over a month later, Double Fine has happily announced that they've reached their kickstarter goal with flying colors: 3.3 million raised by fans eager to continue Raz's adventures.

Holy Smokes! We did it you guys! Psychonauts 2 is now fully funded!
We want to thank you all from the bottom of our hearts for making this possible. We’ve wanted to make this game for a long time, and now we finally can! So thank you, thank you, thank you!

As the video says, they're going to keep the Fig campaign running for a bit longer because, frankly, why wouldn't they?  So if you still want a chance to pre-order the game while it's comparatively cheap, or just get some of the bonus swag that comes with being a backer, it's not too late.  Go ahead and check out the fig crowdfunding page here.

Well, Tim--I might not be the greatest fan of your latest work, but if there was ever a chance for you to return to form, this would be it. Good luck, and I hope to see some positive reviews in the near future.
