"Premium" Titanfall Content Coming Later This Year, Apparently

But it's not Titanfall 3?

Just the other day, we reported that Apex Legends -- the surprise (and surprisingly good) free-to-play hero shooter battle royale from the folks at Respawn -- was, unfortunately, cobbled together from what was supposed to be Titanfall 3, which was no longer being worked on by the aforementioned developer. But if our report filled you with glumness, then maybe you need to reevaluate: because both a tweet from the CEO of Respawn and a report from EA, suggest that there’s more Titanfall content coming in 2019.

The tweet, from CEO Vince Zampella, says this:

Tons of things planned for @PlayApex in the future. We are also committed to listening to player feedback.

We are also working on more Titanfall for later in the year (yes, I said the T word). We love being able to experiment in this crazy universe!

Meanwhile, EA’s Andrew Wilson said this:

"While I don't have more to share with the particulars of what we have coming from Titanfall, Respawn are a tremendously creative team. They always anticipated that Apex Legends would be a spectacular game in the battle royale genre, and that they'd use that as a ramp point to deliver a truly creative take on what Titanfall is in a premium context later on in the year."

So a “premium” Titanfall thing is coming, but if it’s not Titanfall 3, what on earth is it? Technically neither men say it’s a game, so it could be anything from an animated TV series to a friggin’ dating sim, we just don’t know. But if it is coming in 2019, then we probably won’t have to wait long to find out: they probably won’t try to drop more Titanfall stuff on us by surprise this year.

Probably.
