Pot and Video Games: Is the Combination Truly Addictive?

Video games have been quite controversal as of late. Scientists and researchers have released more studies than ever on the subject of video games, whether they relate to intelligence or behavior. Well, lately there has been plenty of contradiction regarding the connection between weed and video games, but one gamer claims that weed and video games go hand-in-hand like peanut butter and chocolate.

There has been a study that proves how intertwined pot and video games can be. Young adults who play video games every day smoke twice as often as those that sometimes play, and even three times more than people who don't play video games. However, another study states that any substance that is used alongside gaming mesh beautifully together. John Wenzel, the author of the article "High Scores: Do pot and video games feed each others' addictive qualities," mentions how pot and video games are not increasing addictive qualities so much as "accentuating their desired effects." This is no different than combining Oreos and milk, fries and Frosties, or bacon and... everything.

However, the experience can be addicting. This, however, depends more on the person. People do develop dependencies, whether it be for gaming, for weed, or both. Weed can immerse people further into a game, allowing for a complete distraction of the real world. However, weed and gaming can only be truly addictive when people begin to spend more money than what they have and neglect work and/or family.

Video games, combined with weed, are merely an indulgence. You can read the Wenzel's article here.
