During today's Pokemon Direct, the world was exposed to the upcoming Pokemon titles of Sun and Moon, which was perceived as a rumor just yesterday, as trademarks for the games leaked. Though there isn't much known about the new title, what is known is that the Red, Yellow, and Blue versions of Pokemon will be compatible with the Pokebank, meaning that Pokemon can be transferred from the older versions to the new iterations. The same goes for transfers between X, Y, Alpha Sapphire and Omega Ruby and Sun and Moon.
Sun and Moon are currently set for release this holiday.
This news complements the recent announcement of a new, revealed Pokemon named Magearna. This Pokemon appeared in the latest issue of CoroCoro and is a "Man-Made" Pokemon with a metallic body. However, it has been created over 500 years ago, carrying a huge secret that prompts groups like Volcanion to chase after it.
February 27 marks the 20th anniversary of Pokemon, and to celebrate, there will be a 24-hour marathon of the show beginning at 6pm PST on the Pokemon official Twitch channel. At 10am PST, there will be a variety of G-rated discussions, gameplay, and analysis on the same channel.
Not only that, but Pokemon Red, Blue, and Yellow will be releasing on the anniversary on the 3DS, which will include wireless trading.
So hopefully we'll know a lot more about Sun and Moon in the oncoming weeks.
