Pokemon Go is causin' the world--at least, the parts of the world with access to the game--to go nuts, and for good reason. The game is crazy addictive, and it's causing a lot of good in the world as people move more, visit their neighbors, and visit landmarks they might have never known was in their town. It's also causing semi-riots, robberies, and car crashes, but heck, gotta take the good with the bad, right?
Well, the game is great now, and only plans on getting greater as time goes on, but one of the improvements we can expect to see in the future is more Pokestops!
... Not because we've discovered more landmarks. More because Niantic CEO John Hanke has just revealed to the New York Times that sponsored Pokestops will be a thing in the near future.
Which is unsurprising, really: Pokemon Go is location and movement based (one of its great strengths, which we'll talk about more tomorrow), and it's an easy way to milk money out of the game without adding more microtransactions or ads. Besides, if the end goal is just MORE places to get free stuff, I very much doubt anyone's going to complain.
But then, we'll have to see how far this rabbit-hole goes before we start passing out ribbons.
