As technology ages, so does its price. Sony is dropping the price of the PlayStation VR headset soon, to only $299. Starting March 29, the VR set, and any related bundles, will cost $100 less.

Originally priced at $399, the PSVR headset allowed users to experience a more cost-effective virtual reality experience using their PlayStation 4. After a few months, the price was lowered to $349, and now it's lowered again. The HTC Vive followed a similar suit when they lowered the price of their technology from $800 to $600. This further reinforces the PSVR as the cheapest option for an authentic VR experience.

What makes the PSVR so much cheaper? It's through the clever usage of their old PS Move technology. The PlayStation Move was Sony's reaction to the Wii in 2010. The system used a camera and glowing wands to track player motion. The hardware company realized they can use this same system to track a headset. Combining that with a gyroscope, and you have a VR setup that's both powerful, and easy on the budget.

I have a PSVR and I can't recommend it enough. It works as well as the other, more expensive options and still has a fantastic list of games. Try Rec Room, or Skyrim VR, in glorious virtual reality.
