PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds, one of the biggest games of the year, will finally be going gold today. At 2pm EST today (December 20), PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds will be updating to version 1.0, the full release.

The genre revolution that is PUBG released last March. Developer Brendan Greene started out as an ARMA 2 mod inspired by the movie Battle Royale. Starting as a prototype called "DayZ: Battle Royale", Greene would later work on H1Z1: King of the Hill, and eventually release the revolutionary game we know today. Just recently, PUBG even made its way to the Xbox One.

The open nature of the game allows for immense levels of creativity and teamwork. The tension of being one of the last men alive makes for exhilarating final moments. The fairness of the game has helped it develop into a viable competative scene.

With PUBG 1.0 we will get a new desert map, replay functionality, and a number of fixes and tweaks. Today marks a significant milestone for PUBG and it's community. Fight on, and get yourself that chicken dinner!
