Not even two months after the initial release of Playerunknown's Battlegrounds, Bluehole Studios has hosted its first charity tournament. The 2017 Playerunknown's Battlegrounds charity invitational concluded today, raising over $220,000 and counting.

The tournament featured 64 players from both Europe and North America fighting to the death in the most epic battle royale game ever. The tournament was played in DUOS mode, with 32 teams per region in order to provide the best ping for each player. It's definitely surprising that so close after launch, Bluehole Studios has decided to host a tournament, but because of the overwhelming success of Battlegrounds, the tournament raked in a hefty sum for charity.

Like most eSports/competitive gaming tournaments, the whole thing was streamed on Twitch by multiple competitors. All the money raised in the tournament is going to Gamers Outreach, an organization that provides gaming equipment, technology, and software to help kids cope with treatment in hospitals.
