Since being released to Steam early access on March 23rd, PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds has been taking the community by storm and remained as one of the top selling games on Steam. Both the battle royale community and inexperienced players in the genre have been deeming it the best battle royale experience out there. Coming from a developer responsible for H1Z1 King Of The Kill, Battlegrounds makes dramatic improvements on the genre, and it's without a doubt the best one made to date. After playing the game for over 22 hours, I'm completely hooked, like most of the Steam community.
Battlegrounds made $11 million in just the first three days, and now, according to a press release this morning, they've reached 1 million copies sold. Since release, Battlegrounds has maintained over 89,000 concurrent players, and it's only bound to grow from there. It's been rumored that the game will come to console in the future, and it's pretty safe to assume that it will, based on its popularity and demand from console players.
PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds is definitely the best battle royale game ever made, no doubt about it, but since it's an early access game, it still suffers from many bugs and glitches. Optimization stands as its biggest issue and only very high-end PC's can run it without much issue. Battlegrounds was apparently the product of 9 months of development before it came to early access, so I think it's likely that the developers will make great progress with optimization and content addition in the coming months. Here's hoping that I can actually run Battlegrounds higher than low settings in the near future because I'm pretty tired of playdough looking textures. Beggars can't be choosers I guess, and I'll still play regardless. Stay tuned to GZU for the latest PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds news.
