PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds may have popularized the Battle Royale trend, but even it is subject to the evolving nature of gaming. Developers PUBG Corp. has recently announced in a Steam Community post that the game will be getting an Event Mode, coming to the test server soon.

Event mode will give players a more diverse selection from the usual Solo, Duo, and Squad Modes. The game will rotate through Custom games of various settings, ranging from eight-person squads to double assault rifle spawns. It's the craziness of a custom match without needing 100 friends.

According to PUBG Corp., the test will be available via the test server as soon as the build is stable. It will also take place in third-person mode on the Erangel map.

The announcement came shortly after Fortnite: Battle Royales most recent special event, Blitz Mode. Fortnite has been launching temporary events, where players can participate in game modes like 50v50, since early December.
